TomTom 1.4 Android, S4 Samsung Galaxy I-9505

I try to install TomTom 1.4 with the latest map for Western Europe for free. I’m using TomTom SatNav or GPS device before but sometime it is very difficult to catch up with the satellite signal. One day when we’re travel to Malaga Spain, the TomTom SatNav (I think TomTom XL Live) always give us a headache. Lucky for us my wife has her Samsung Galaxy S3 with the TomTom 1.3 in it. So for the rest of the travel we just use the TomTom Android. My verdict is, it is very impressive the way it response to the signal and appropriate timing in the road.

I’m using the Samsung S4 now, and try to install the TomTom version 1.4 for Europe and it is possible the whole world, you just need to download the corresponding map and the installation .apk file. I try to install it and always get this error “unable to connect to TomTom”.

I will update with the installation and maybe together with the rooting process as well.

You may click on these link for your further reference:

There are many methods to root your phone, and you can find them here: XDA-Developers ifs a great resource for finding almost all of the information you want and need. Just read the comments in the threads to see if there are any issues you come across, how to avoid them, and ahh other information you need before rooting, installing a custom recovery such as TWRP or Clockwork Mod, and/or custom ROMs and/or kernels.

One click rooting your Samsung Galaxy S4 S4 i9505 is fully rooted using this application) rooting software , it is free and worth to try)

Model Number: GT-19505
Android Version: 4.4.2
Baseband Version: 19505XXUGNG8
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-2309103

I solved the install of TomTom on my Galaxy Tab4 7 inches with KitKat 4.4.2 on SD card likes this:

1-install TomTom on internal memory
2-Start it to verify it is OK
3-Install "FolderMount" available on the play store
4-Add a pair between the folder TomTom on internal and a folder on SD card.
5-Validate and reboot
6-After reboot the transfer of the file iniciate
7-When finish, add a spindle in the "FolderMount" app. He must became green.
8-Start TomTom normally: no change for the user but the TomTom app is on the SD card !

Successfully rooted S4, do internal TomTom europe 1.4  installation and work brilliantly. Now try to migaret the map to the SD card, europe map consume 3 gig of the storage.

SCImago Journal and Country Rank

Search / publish / cite Scopus journal? About SCImago
Journals indexed by Scopus become a necessity in the academic world. So you need to make sure you send journal is scopus, also referred Scopus journal. If not .... journal / reference you will belittled your efforts and look messy.
For newbies .... please to SCImago web, search engine using ELSEVIER indexed by Scopus data base.

Freely accessible at
The SCImago Journal and Country Rank portal is developed by SCImago Research Group working at three Spanish universities (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), University of Granada, Extremadura, Carlos III (Madrid) and Alcalá de Henares). It is named after the SCImago Journal Rank Indicator (SJR) developed by the group. The citation data used is derived from Scopus database and journal rankings are available for journals contained in the Scopus database.
The SJR indicator is calculated based on three year's citation data and attributes different weight to citations depending on the prestige of the citing journal. The prestige of a journal is estimated using PageRank algorithm in the network of journals. The prestige of a journal is transferred through the references that a journal receives from the other journals.
A detailed description of SCImago Journal Rank Indicator is available at

Wheel Speed Measurement in Antilock Braking System (ABS)

The role of ABS is to ensure the steer-ability of the vehicle in challenging braking conditions where there is not adequate friction between the wheels and the road. ABS also minimizes the stopping distance by maximizing the braking force. ABS for each wheel of a vehicle mainly consists of an ABS sensor, an actuator, and a controller. The role of the ABS sensor is to provide the ABS controller with a good estimate of the wheel speed. The controller generates an appropriate control signal based on the speed. This signal is fed back to the actuator, which adjusts the braking force accordingly. The common technology for measuring wheel speed in ABSs is to use a magnetic WSS which is often referred to as the ABS sensor. This sensor usually consists of a rotating toothed ring (which is called the ABS ring), a permanent magnet, and a winding (which is called the pickup) that produces a voltage signal that contains the wheel speed information. The ABS ring (also called tone, trigger, or gear wheel) is an essential component of the WSS and generates the speed signal by modulating the magnetic field between the magnet and winding. The modulation frequency is directly related to the speed of the ABS ring, which is rotating with the vehicle wheel.

The importance of accurate wheel speed measurement has motivated brake manufacturers to produce accurate WSS using precision technologies. Several attempts have also been made to improve the accuracy of existing WSSs using signal-processing methods. For instance, a method was proposed in  to compensate for the mechanical inaccuracy of conventional ABS sensors. Their analysis showed that the irregularities of the tooth and gap width have the largest influence on the speed signal quality of conventional sensors. In addition to mechanical inaccuracies, the accuracy of wheel speed measurement is affected by noise. A frequency-domain least-mean-square adaptive filter was used in  to improve the wheel speed measurement. To further mitigate the effect of noise, the same author also proposed using an adaptive line enhancer algorithm to predict the response of a WSS buried in a broad-band noise . The experimental results of the aforementioned two works showed that it is necessary to further process the output of common WSSs to achieve required accuracy in practice where noise is present.

The ABS sensor has a simple and rugged design. However, the commonly used technology has several disadvantages as follows:
  •     The ABS sensor is not accurate at low speeds (lower than 5 km/h) due to very low signal-to-noise ratio .
  •     The ABS sensor, due to the size of the ABS ring, is relatively bulky compared to most sensors. Typical ABS rings have a diameter range of 44–115 mm and a width range of 6–30 mm.
  •     The ABS ring is vulnerable both to environmental factors such as rust and dirt and to operational factors such as wheel hub inspection or repair procedures.
  •     The size of the air gap between the ABS ring and the magnetic field impacts the accuracy of the sensor. This is difficult to adjust, and in some designs, the whole wheel hub has to be replaced when the air gap is unbalanced.
  •     ABS speed measurements are susceptible to mechanical faults in the wheel bearing assembly.
  •     ABS speed measurements are also susceptible to wiring faults (e.g., an open/short circuit or changes in wire resistance).

Import and convert CSV to Excel

There is a good tutorial on how to import CSV to Excel. Hope will help someone out there. I have this problem when someone request the data in SQL db but insist want it in .xls or .xlsx file. It is easy if you have access to the database but for those who are not familiar, cant access the db or enjoying using excel more than others this how it works. Convert CSV to Excel

Facebook monthly chargers starting Nov 1

I'm not sure about this update, are you?. Or is it hoax or something ?I read it in my friend's FB update. The charges is about $2.99 per month. Wow, I dont think Mark Zukerberg that stupid enough sorry to say excuse me to impose that kind of charges to the millions of users. If he charge only a single penny  per account for annual fee he can make millions within the short period of time.

I'm using facebook for almost 8 years right now, and this thing is killing my time but it make me drowsy if not attached to it. At least 3 to 4 times I need to scroll for the new update from my friends.

“After thinking long and hard about this decision, at the end of the day, we were forced to add this monthly fee,” Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg told reporters. “If we don’t do something about our rising costs now, Facebook could cease to exist in the near future.”
“This is excellent news for Facebook stock holders,” says Wall Street analyst Dale Sackrider. “As of August this year, Facebook had a total of 1.317 billion users. If just 75% of those members pay the new monthly service fee of $3, that will mean an annual influx of cash totaling roughly $3 billion. That’s not just an increase in profits of a few dollars, that’s a game changer right there.”

Research Methodology, Research For Beginner, Introduction to Research, Research Methods Basic

This is the ideal book for the beginners who want to invloved in the research arena. I read several  books related to research method but none of them is  finished, this is due to the jargon terms that make me breathless in the middle of reading. My advice, if you plan or in due process of doing research study please read the basic book first, find the fundamentals idea is important rather than hoovering around all reading materials. You will get lost in the  middle of nowhere when you use internet. For me web serach engine is the fastest and robust way to compile what you want to find but to spend several hours reading the 1200x800 pixel size of 12" to 15" moinitor will make you exhausted and your eyes will not catch or scan any idea from the materials. The traditonal book is the best. If you can get the actual journal or articles in the library is the best option to read you materials rather than reading it infront of the LCD monitor.
Here is the front content of the book that I quote it from amazon.

Research Methods: The Basics is an accessible, user-friendly introduction to the different aspects of research theory, methods and practice. Structured in two parts, the first covering the nature of knowledge and the reasons for research, and the second the specific methods used to carry out effective research, this book covers: Structuring and planning a research project The ethical issues involved in research Different types of data and data quality Analysing and organising data to draw sound conclusions Writing up and displaying data in effective ways

Another good book for the beginners is Research Methodology A Step-by-step guide for the beginners by Kumar R.

Here is some of the basic answers that you need for the beginners
  • Research Question or Research Problem is what you want to find out about
  • Research Methodology is the path of finding answer to the research question
  • Research Objective is a kind of methods, procedure or model of research methodology to achieve best answer to your research question.
You may find a various definition of the above terms, but as you can see each of the definition contain the keyword "Research Question". So, indirectly it is clearly show the important part of the research is the research question and the liable of the question is of coz the answers to that question. Anything that drive to the answers can be considered as your methodology.

*please contact me if you want to comment/correcting/contribute. I'm just starting my journey but way behind the timeline..... godspeed.

Research - Aims and Objectives

Research - Aims and Objectives

A literature review produces a research question or gap in knowledge.
Our aim is to close the gap in knowledge (such as answering the research questions) which are we going to achieve by providing a contribution to knowledge.

Aims are broad statements of desired outcomes or the general intentions of the research, which 'paint the picture' of your research proposal:
·         Emphasize what is to be accomplished, not how it is to be accomplished
·         Address the long-term project outcomes, i.e. they should reflect the aspirations and expectations of the research topic (general intention, broader vision)

Objectives are the steps you are going to take to answer your research questions or a specific list of tasks needed to accomplish the goals of the project:
·         Emphasize how aims are to be accomplished
·         Must be highly focused and feasible
·         Address the more immediate project outcomes
·         Make accurate use of concepts and be sensible and precisely described
·         Usually numbered so that each objective reads as an 'individual' statement to convey your intention
(procedural, statements, hows)
